HC Deb 12 November 1947 vol 444 cc76-7W
67. Mr. Digby

asked the Minister of Food what quantities of oils and fats have been exported from the United Kingdom during the past year; to what countries were they exported; and what was the reason for these exports.

Dr. Summerskill

During 1947 we expect to export only 13,000 tons of oils and fats mainly in the form of margarine and soap. Our import programme for the same period is 960,000 tons. The small quantity exported is sent to a number of destinations primarily Colonies and Dependencies. The preparation of detailed figures would take some considerable time, but I shall be happy to supply the hon. Member with the particulars he desires for any specific destination in which he is interested.
