HC Deb 12 November 1947 vol 444 cc80-1W
82. Mr. Bramall

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty why candidates for cadetships in the electrical branch of the Royal Navy are asked what was their grandfather's occupation.

Mr. Dugdale

I am not aware that candidates for cadetships in the electrical branch of the Royal Navy are asked about the occupation of their grandparents. If the hon. Member will provide me with further details, I will look into the matter.

83. Mr. Bramall

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what proportion of this year's intake of cadets into the electrical branch of the Royal Navy came from local authority secondary schools.

Mr. Dugdale

Fifty per cent. of the 20 candidates entered as Cadets (L) came from local authority secondary schools.
