asked the President of the Board of Trade what are the technical qualifications of the newly appointed chairman of the Raw Cotton Commission; and what is the salary and expenses of this post.

Mr. Belcher

Mr. H. O. R. Hindley, the Chairman of the Raw Cotton Commission, is, as laid down in the Act, an independent person who has had experience of, and shown capacity in, industrial and commercial matters and in administration. His experience covers service with commercial firms, in Government Departments, and under the National Coal Board. His salary will be £5,000 a year, and he will have an expense allowance of £500 a year.
