59. Mr. Medlicott

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that many of the Bailey Bridges erected by the British Army during the late war, notably in Italy, France and Belgium, are now being used or adapted for use as permanent civil bridges in those countries; and whether Great Britain has received any payment or credit in respect of the same.

The value of these bridges, as of other fixed assets, has been taken into account in financial settlements with these countries.
