§ 106. Mr. Jannerasked the Minister of Health what is the present position with regard to water supplies for the main cities of the country; and whether he has any plans to deal with the position during the winter if conditions do not improve.
§ Mr. BevanIt has been reported to me that the reserves of several large undertakings with upland sources in the North and West of England and in Wales are very low. My officers are in close contact with the undertakers who are aware of the emergency powers under which I can authorise temporary augmentation of supplies. It cannot, however, be too strongly stressed that considerable help would be afforded to water undertakers if consumers would avoid waste and unnecessary use of water.
