HC Deb 27 March 1947 vol 435 c229W
98. Mr. W. J, Brown

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Deparment whether he is aware that in certain counties constables are required to scrub floors and clean windows of the police stations; and whether, in view of the deterrent effect this may exercise on recruitment, he will consider issuing a circular advising local police authorities to get such work done by the proper cleaning staff.

Mr. Ede

Where such cases are brought to my notice they are taken up with the responsible police authority. The practice does not appear to be so prevalent as to need a circular on the subject from the Home Office.

99. Lady Grant

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when His Majesty's Government propose to place before this House their proposals for bringing into affect the recommendations made in the Curtis Report.

Mr. Ede

I would refer the hon. Member to the statement made by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister on the 24th March in reply to a Question by the junior Burgess for Cambridge University (Mr. Wilson Harris).
