§ 98. Mr. W. J, Brownasked the Secretary of State for the Home Deparment whether he is aware that in certain counties constables are required to scrub floors and clean windows of the police stations; and whether, in view of the deterrent effect this may exercise on recruitment, he will consider issuing a circular advising local police authorities to get such work done by the proper cleaning staff.
§ Mr. EdeWhere such cases are brought to my notice they are taken up with the responsible police authority. The practice does not appear to be so prevalent as to need a circular on the subject from the Home Office.
