§ Mr. Nieldasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what aid is given by his Department to the Sea Cadets movement; whether stores and equipment left from the recent war are made use of to this end; and if he is satisfied that all possible steps are being taken to encourage the success of the movement.
Mr. DugdaleIn the Navy Estimates for 1946, a total of £83,000 was provided for grants to Sea Cadet Corps, and substantial provision is being made in next year's Estimates. Surplus stores and equipment, including boats, are provided for the Cadets on a liberal scale, and I am satisfied that all practicable steps are 195W being taken to encourage the success of the movement, to which the Admiralty attach great importance.
