HC Deb 12 March 1947 vol 434 c194W
Mr. F. Noel-Baker

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty when the Paymaster's Department, Royal Marine Barracks, Chatham, will pay Mr. H. T. Bender, 88, Alexandra Gardens, W.4, the credits and arrears of pay due to him, in view of the fact that he was demobilised in August, 1946.

Mr. Dugdale

An advance of £13 was made to Mr. Bender on his dispersal in August, and further advances were made in September and November. A savings bank book in respect of his war gratuity and postwar credit of wages was sent to him in October. On final balancing of his pay account, it was found that there was a small debit balance, and Mr. Bender was informed on 26th February that the over-payment would not be recovered.
