HC Deb 12 March 1947 vol 434 c214W
Sir R. Glyn

asked the Minister of Labour how many applications have been received by prospective employers in this country for nominated Austrian women to come to the United Kingdom for domestic employment; how many of these applications have been approved; and how many Austrians have actually arrived and been engaged by hospitals and other institutions and by private employers.

Mr. Ness Edwards

No precise information is available as to the number of applications that have been made, but up to the end of February, 1,141 permits had been granted for nominated Austrian women to come to the United Kingdom for domestic employment of which 1,052 have been issued since December. I have no record of permit holders who have arrived in this country.
