§ 114 Mr. Joynson-Hicksasked the Minister of Defence the number of men who have passed out of the R.N.. Army and R.A.F. educational vocational training centres, respectively; and how many of them are now in insured employment.
§ Mr. AlexanderTraining for a particular trade or occupation is carried out after release from the Services, and is the responsibility, not of the Service Departments, but of the Ministry of Labour. Units of all three Services do, however, provide courses which aim to prepare a man for post-release training. All R.A.F. 169W training is carried out on this basis. It would be difficult to estimate the number who have availed themselves of these facilities, but it is considerable. In addition some 110,000 Naval and Army personnel have taken short courses at the E.V.T. centres and colleges organised by these Services. I regret that it is not possible to say how many of these are now in insured employment.
