§ 85. Mr. C. Williamsasked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he will enter into an arrangement with the Australian Government in order to reduce the postage on food parcels sent to this country.
§ Mr. BurkeThe proportion of the postage which is credited to the United Kingdom Post Office is not more than sufficient to cover the expense of handling these parcels in this country, and it would not be reasonable to ask the Australian Authorities to reduce their charges, particularly in view of the arrangement in force by which gifts of food can be sent as freight without expense to the donor.
