HC Deb 21 January 1947 vol 432 cc14-5W
85. Sir G. Fox

asked the Secretary of State for War the number of civilians killed by Army vehicles as a result of accidents; and whether he is satisfied that there are sufficient provost officers.

Mr. Bellenger

The hon. and gallant Member does not say in what periods he is interested. The numbers of civilians killed in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in accidents involving British Army vehicles in 1945 and 1946 were 271 and 99. Fuller details may be found in the Ministry of Transport's monthly statements. I am satisfied that there are sufficient officers of the Corps of Royal Military Police.
