HC Deb 21 January 1947 vol 432 cc23-4W
Mrs. Middleton

asked the Secretary of State for Air why the commanding officer at El Adem camp refused permission for an all-ranks social at Christmas; and whether it is the policy of his Department, now that the war is over, for all ranks to be segregated from each other socially.

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

I am glad to assure my hon. Friend that the commanding officer at El Adem did not refuse permission for a social gathering of all ranks at Christmas. There were, in fact, a number of social events, both at Christmas and at the New Year, which all ranks were at liberty to attend.
