HC Deb 20 February 1947 vol 433 cc214-5W
113. Mrs. Paton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many voluntary teachers are giving courses in the women's prisons; whether the travelling expenses of teachers are paid; and whether the teachers are informed that they can claim these expenses.

Mr. Ede

Fifteen at present. Travelling expenses are paid only if the teacher is unable to undertake the work without such assistance, and for this reason it is not the practice to invite claims for travelling expenses.
