§ Mr. A. Lewisasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that linen maids and machinists employed on manual work in hotels are excluded from obtaining the Industrial Ten clothing coupons; and what action he proposes to take to rectify this anomaly.
§ Sir S. CrippsThe Industrial Ten supplement is intended for heavy manual workers who have exceptional wear and tear on their clothing or for workers who need special clothing for hygienic reasons. I see no justification for issuing these coupons to the class of persons named.
§ Sir W. Darlingasked the President of the Board of Trade how many plainclothes coupons are available annually to soldiers serving on Regular enlistment.
§ Sir S. CrippsApart from officers who receive 21 special coupons a year which may be used to purchase a restricted range of garments, no coupons are available. I 193W would, however, refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Winchester (Mr. G. Jeger) on 13th February.
