HC Deb 17 February 1947 vol 433 c115W
24. Mr. Garry Allighan

asked the Minister of Food what increase in the consumption of bread he anticipates as a result of the abolition of biscuit manufacture.

Mr. Strachey

It will depend on the number of factories affected, the size of their stocks, and the length of the emergency. The total output of biscuits is 5 per cent. of bread production, by weight, but the electricity restrictions do not abolish biscuit manufacture; they only affect producers in some parts of the country.
