HC Deb 13 February 1947 vol 433 c85W
85. Lieut.-Colonel Clifton-Brown

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what special arrangements he has made to provide coal for agricultural threshing contractors in the Eastern Counties, many of whom had to cancel contracts and so reduce the grain available for the nation's food

Mr. Shinwell

Coal for agricultural threshing in the Eastern Counties is made available under programme to farmers according to the acreage to be threshed. I am not aware that any contracts for threshing have had to be cancelled due to shortage of coal but if the hon. Member has knowledge of any particular case of difficulty and will let me have details, I will have the matter investigated
