HC Deb 03 February 1947 vol 432 cc289-90W
101. Mr. Gallacher

asked the Minister of Supply whether anything is being done to implement the proposals of the Brassert Report, the White Paper on iron and steel, and the plans of the Clyde Valley Regional Planning Commission, with special reference to the need for an integrated steel plant, at or near Inchinnan, Renfrewshire.

Mr. Wilmot

The various proposals for the modernisation and development of the industry in Scotland and elsewhere are being carefully examined by the Iron and Steel Board. The establishment of a fully integrated plant involves difficult technical and social considerations, and, whilst the Board are doing everything possible to speed up the discussions, it will be some time before final decisions can be made.
