HC Deb 03 February 1947 vol 432 c290W
Mr. Granville

asked the Minister of Supply to what extent arrangements have been completed for experiment and research in the design, construction and operations of new types of air liners and other civil aircraft.

Mr. Wilmot

So far as research and development are concerned, an increasingly greater proportion of the existing resources, both of the industry and the Government, has been devoted to civil types during the past year, and a Civil Aircraft Research Committee of the Aeronautical Research Council has recently been formed. Experiment and research in the operation of civil aircraft are conducted by the corporations, who have organisations for this purpose.
