§ 64. Mr. Anthony Greenwoodasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has considered the petitions of Mr. Lewis Gerald and C. S. M. Saydraouten, of Mauritius; and what answers he has given them.
Mr. Creech JonesYes, Sir. Mr. Gerald addressed a number of petitions to my predecessor and myself by way of appeal from the decision of the courts in Mauritius, and he was informed that we had no power to intervene. Mr. Saydraouten appealed against dismissal from the Police Force. As he has now 229W been reinstated he has been told that I do not propose to take any further action in the matter.
