§ 65. Mr. Anthony Greenwoodasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will take steps to inquire into the grievances of employees of the Government railway administration in Mauritius; and whether he is aware that the trade union concerned has made representations without results.
Mr. Creech JonesI have been in communication with the Governor of Mauritius, and he informs me that all cases of alleged grievance or injustice have been investigated and that no genuine grievance or instance of victimisation has been disclosed. The complaints in question refer to the posting or promotion of certain individuals. The Mauritius Government's Trade Union Adviser is giving the matter close attention, and a Central Committee has been set up to deal with representations from the Railway Union.
