Estimates of local civilian populations in England and Wales, based on national registration records, are published by the Registrar-General, in respect of all local authority areas, in his Annual Statistical Review and, in respect of administrative counties with associated county boroughs, 126 great towns and 148 smaller towns, in his Quarterly Return.
