HC Deb 21 October 1946 vol 427 c276W
8. Sir B. Neven-Spence

asked the Minister of Transport the average time taken in British ports for the turn-round of ships in dock as compared with the prewar average time.

Mr. Barnes

I regret that no figures are available which would enable me directly to compare the average times taken for the turn-round of ships in port before the war and at the present time. It is probable, however, that average time in port is now higher than pre-war, if only by reason of the greater volume of repairs now required.
