HC Deb 21 October 1946 vol 427 c307W
Mr. Mitchison

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he is aware that there are airmen at Castle Archdale, near Enniskillen, who have been waiting there for two or three months to take a course as motor boat crew, acting meanwhile as ACH/GD; what is the reason for the delay; and what steps he is taking to reduce it.

Mr. de Freitas

I am afraid men have to wait some time for training as motor boat crew at present, mainly because of our shortage of instructors. While they are waiting, we are employing them at various stations, either on work which helps to even out the release programme, or to get some preliminary practical experience in the duties of motor boat crew.
