HC Deb 21 October 1946 vol 427 c308W
Mr. Younger

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what provision he proposes to make for the training of colonial police officers; and if he will appoint an adviser on police matters to work on the Colonial Office staff.

Mr. Creech Jones

As regards police training, my Department has been in very close contact with the police authorities both in the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, and India, as a result of which short courses for officers and periods of attachment to police forces have been arranged. More comprehensive plans will be made as soon as the position becomes easier. The suggestion that an adviser on police matters should be appointed to the Colonial Office staff will be borne in mind.
