HC Deb 21 November 1946 vol 430 cc174-5W
147. Mr. Medlicott

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that the greater part of the output of the potash mines in the British zone of Germany is being sent to Holland; that this is giving the Dutch fruit growers considerable potential advantage as compared with British fruit growers; and if he will adjust this position by pressing for some percentage of the output to be diverted to this country.

Sir S. Cripps

No potash produced in the British zone of Germany is at present being- exported. In common with other European countries, including Holland, we are due to receive a share of the exportable surplus of potash produced in the Eastern zone of Germany, and we have now made the necessary arrangements with the Russian authorities.
