HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 cc198-9W
Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyre

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer in how many cases since VE-Day Government consent has been given to private interests to make foreign loans: how many such loans have been guaranteed by His Majesty's Govern- ment; and if he will give details of all such loans made.

Mr. Dalton

No permission has been given for foreign loans. Permission has, of course, been given for many commercial transactions, involving credit in the ordinary way of business, and some of these have benefited by the operations of the Export Credits Guarantee Department. I am not prepared to publish details of such private transactions.
