Mr. DugdaleWomen are at present being voluntarily recruited for the W.R.N.S to provide an intake of 60 a week. The number enrolled since V.J.-Day is 3,768, representing about 25 per cent. of the number volunteering.

Mr. DugdaleThe numbers of W.R.N.S. officers and ratings borne on 1st October, 1946, were approximately 700 and 11,000 respectively. Those who do not volunteer to serve for specific periods extending beyond that date will be released not later than the end of 1948.
