HC Deb 21 May 1946 vol 423 c56W
99. Mr. Cocks

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will give an assurance that, when the mines pass to the ownership of the State the Government will continue to pay the pensions now being paid to ex-miners by certain colliery companies.

Mr. Shinwell

I would refer my hon. Friend to Clause 35, Subsection (2), of the Coal Industry Nationalisation Bill. It will be the National Coal Board, and not -the Government, who will be responsible for the payments of the pensions referred to.
