HC Deb 15 May 1946 vol 422 cc227-8W
64. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Minister of Food whether he will allow coal trimmers an extra ration of soap, particularly in view of the fact that they do not have access to pit-head baths.

Sir B. Smith:

Arrangements already exist whereby extra allowances of soap are made available for coal trimmers. Where no washing facilities exist such extra allowances are issued to employers for redistribution to the men. If my hon. Friend has knowledge of any instance in which difficulty is being experienced I should be grateful if he would let me know.
