HC Deb 07 May 1946 vol 422 c71W
39. Major Ramsay

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will review the establishments held in the M.E.F. and the number of deferments there in certain demobilisation groups, in view of complaints received from that area that-many men are redundant.

Mr. Lawson:

All establishments are continually being reviewed with a view to preventing any redundancy. Compulsory deferment of release in individual cases is only resorted to if the Commander-in-Chief is personally satisfied that the Arm of the Service concerned has reduced it commitments to the minimum and is carrying out those commitments with the minimum number of personnel. He must also be satisfied that no suitable replacement can be found
