HC Deb 06 May 1946 vol 422 c48W
88. Mr. G. Jeger

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the Royal Naval Cordite Factory, Hulton Heath, Dorset, is being closed; that this will cause about 500 local men to be unemployed; and whether he will take action to establish a light industry in the Wareham district to provide employment for them.

Mr. Belcher:

The Admiralty have not so far decided to declare this factory surplus to their requirements, but an inquiry is being made into the uses to which the available facilities in this establishment might best be put. The Board of Trade regional officers will continue to watch the general situation in this district.
