§ 21. Mr. Gammansasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what action he has taken, or proposes to take, on the petition sent to him by the Government Junior Officers Association, in the Malay States, relative to their pay during the war period.
Mr. Creech JonesPrior to the receipt of the petition, certain recommendations as to the terms to be accorded to those officials who had not been interned by the360W Japanese, or who had been interned for only part of the period of Japanese occupation, had been received from the authorities in Malaya. These recommendations have now been approved. They include rehabilitation grants generally equivalent to three months' pay; also pay for any periods of internment in excess of one month.
