HC Deb 04 March 1946 vol 420 c9W
Mr. E. Granville

asked the Minister of Agriculture what steps he is taking to secure the release of the Leiston and Sud-bourne battle areas to enable the dispossessed farmers to return to their holdings, in order to cultivate them and help to relieve the food shortage.

Mr. T. Williams

My Department has for some time been pressing for the return of these areas to agricultural use. The War Office have now under urgent review the future military requirements of land for use as training areas, but until these requirements as a whole have been fully considered by the Government it is impossible to decide what the future of these particular areas will be.
