HC Deb 26 February 1946 vol 419 c366W
Mr. Hurd

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will take steps to allow Wokingham Corporation to take over Toutley camp, unoccupied since mid-November, and so provide temporary housing urgently needed for 30 families.

Mr. Lawson

No, Sir. This camp is required for the re-accommodation of military personnel now in requisitioned property, so that nine small houses or flats and six other properties can be released for civilian use.

Allhallows Camp (Huts) Mr. Garry AIlighan

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, instead of breaking up the camp at Allhallows, Kent, he will make the 12 huts, timber built on brick foundations, available to the local authority for conversion into housing accommodation.

Mr. Lawson

I regret that I cannot carry out my hon. Friend's suggestion, as this camp is being retained in order to meet the postwar requirements of the Army.
