112. Mr. Vaneasked the Secretary of State for Air how long he anticipates that the R.A.F. Transport Command staging post at Istres will remain in use; and whether he is satisfied that the airmen's accommodation is satisfactory.
§ Mr. P. Noel-BakerI cannot say how long we shall be using the Transport Command staging post at Istres. The buildings were heavily damaged by the Germans when they withdrew, and, although some repairs have been carried out, the accommodation is still unsatisfactory. Materials and labour are short, but we hope to make further improvements in the early future.
