57. Mr. Teeling

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that foreign athletic teams visiting this country are bringing extra food with them, as our food is not enough to sustain them; that our teams are contemplating training in Eire before competing abroad in order not to be handicapped; and whether, in view of the Olympic Games being held here in 1948 and the fact our prestige in sport is suffering due to lack of correct foods for British athletes, he will consider assisting them.

I have no information concerning the matters referred to in the first part of the hon. Member's Question. I regret, however, that I am not prepared to increase the rations of people competing in sporting events.
