HC Deb 04 December 1946 vol 431 cc81-2W
58. Mr. Teeling

asked the Minister of Food what he contemplates doing with the milk for 4,000,000 children which is not supplied to them during the holidays unless they go themselves to collect it at the schools; and, in view of the large number of children who live too far from any school to afford the omnibus fare, or who will not be collected in school omnibuses, who will get the milk thus not claimed.

Dr. Summerskill

Milk not required by schools during the school holidays will remain in the common pool and be avail- able either for maintaining the non-priority allowance or for manufacture into essential milk products such as baby foods.
