HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 c15W
Mr. Champion

asked the Minister of Works if he will enter into negotiations with the employers' and employees' associations in the building trade with a view to settling conditions for the year 1947, under which it will be possible for the building operatives to work overtime on the building of houses when building conditions are suitable.

Mr. Tomlinson

The working of overtime in the building industry is regulated by voluntary agreement between the organisations of the employers and operatives; the arrangements allow for the working of overtime in urgent cases.
