HL Deb 30 April 1946 vol 140 cc1007-8WA
LORD BARNBY

asked His Majesty's Government when, in conformity with the intention reported on February 20, they propose to issue detailed particulars regarding raw material stocks including breakdown information by types on wool. Further, whether to put an end to the uncertainty which at present exists, they intend to announce the composition of and put into authority the Central Board of the promised Joint Organization on Wool.

LORD PAKENHAM

As the noble Lord will be aware, the accumulated stocks of Dominion wool are now held jointly by the United Kingdom Government and the Governments of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The question of the possible publication of details of the stocks will be a matter for consideration by the joint Wool Organization which the four Governments concerned have agreed to establish in order to arrange for the orderly disposal of these stocks in conjunction with the current clips. The arrangements for setting up this Organization are now nearly completed and it is expected to bring it into operation within the next few weeks.

House adjourned at eight o'clock.
