Mr. De la Bèreasked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the fact that a substantial amount of work is being held up owing to shortage of skilled carpenters and joiners, he will now consider their release, where employment awaits them with their previous employers.
§ Mr. Isaacs:Substantial numbers of carpenters and joiners are already being released from the Forces under the Class B block release scheme and I am not prepared to ask the Services to release men in these occupations on nomination by their employers.
