§ Mr. Martinasked the Assistant Postmaster-General what prospects there are of postal services to Germany and other central European countries being restored at an early date.
§ Mr. BurkeNormal postal communication with Germany and Austria will be resumed as soon as the Allied Control Commissions give authority: but they must first be satisfied that the necessary transport and other facilities are available, and I cannot indicate at present when this will be. Meanwhile, limited postal services may be established for the benefit of displaced persons and prisoners of war. The resumption of communication with Hungary also awaits the authority of the Allied Control Commission in that country, but I am hopeful250W that a postal service from the United Kingdom will be in operation shortly. The only other European country to which there is no postal service is Albania, to which a service will be established on the completion of the necessary administrative arrangements with the Albanian Post Office.
