HC Deb 12 November 1945 vol 415 c1883W
Sir P. Hannon

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether the retention of the full personnel of the photographic ground staff of the R.A.F. is part of the peace organisation; to what extent redundancy of officers and men in this branch of the Service has taken place, and if release in these circumstances will be accelerated.

Mr. Strachey

The composition of the post-war Air Force has not yet been determined, but we shall certainly not require to retain all the war-time staff or organisations for air photography. The existing surplus of airmen photographers will soon disappear, as the result of the release programme already promulgated, and as regards photographic ground officers, we have had to take special steps to bring their release rate closer to the average for the Service as a whole.
