asked the Secretary of State for War how many Japanese troops still remain to be disarmed in Java.

Mr. Lawson

There are 50,000 Japanese troops in Java. From the information so far available I understand that mass disarmament of the Japanese has not yet been carried out, because our forces are necessarily occupied in maintaining order
