THE EARL OF MANSFIELDasked His Majesty's Government whether they are aware that there are 1,700 Polish women and girls held in prisoner-of-war camps within the British Zone in Germany, as well as 600 within the United States Army Zone; and that conditions in these camps are by no means satisfactory; and whether they will state if steps are to be taken at an early date to bring these women to this country, where many have husbands or fathers in the Polish Army, and where use could be made of them in the Polish Women's Services.
§ THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (THE EARL OF MUNSTER)Polish prisoners liberated by the Allied Forces are being given shelter and maintenance under the authority of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief at various centres set up for their reception, and for the present they will continue to be cared for in this way.
