HC Deb 12 June 1945 vol 411 cc1506-7W
Mr. Parker

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that in some sections of our Army of Occupation in Germany an order has been issued that sergeants will not associate with other ranks after parade hours; and whether as this is not conducive to good spirit among the troops when the no-fraternisation rule is enforced, he will take steps to have it repealed.

Sir J. Grigg

I know of no such order and I find it difficult to believe it has been issued. It is true that the hon. Member sent me a letter from one soldier on this subject, but I found it most unconvincing. However, I have sent it to 21 Army Group for such action as they may find to be necessary.
