HC Deb 20 February 1945 vol 408 c639W
Miss Ward

asked the Secretary of State for War whether members of the women's Services discharged on compassionate grounds and subsequently recalled for service are now eligible for the full grant for civilian clothing.

Sir J. Grigg

When auxiliaries who have not already had a plain clothes allowance are relegated to the unemployed list on compassionate grounds they are given the option of taking the grant of £12 10s. at once or of waiting for a later occasion, for example, when they are finally discharged. As I say, this applies to those who have not already had any grant for plain clothes. Those who in the past had the old lower grant and are then recalled become eligible for the full new one after they have completed a further six months' service.
