§ Mr. Lipsonasked the President of the Board of Trade why there is no representative of Cheltenham on the Price Regulation Committee for the area which sits at Bristol; and will he either appoint a representative from Cheltenham on the committee or arrange for a sub-committee of the main committee to be set up at Cheltenham in view of the many important matters affecting the borough that come within the committee's purview.
§ Captain WaterhouseMembers of Local Price Regulation Committees are not appointed to represent particular towns, but as traders, consumers and independent persons in the region as a whole. I am anxious, however, that members should be drawn from different parts of each region, and when a vacancy occurs on the South Western Committee the hon. Gentlemen's suggestion will be borne in mind. I understand that the Committee did at one time appoint sub-committees to meet locally, but that this arrangement proved unsatisfactory.
