HC Deb 17 December 1945 vol 417 c1062W
Mr. Osborne

asked the Minister of War Transport if he will consider increasing the number of passenger trains on the L.N.E.R. Marylebone-Manchester line since they are still less than 50 percent. of those run before 1939.

Mr. Barnes

There are two trains daily from Marylebone to Manchester and three in the reverse direction compared with three and four respectively before the war. It is not possible at present to augment the service owing to the heavy volume of freight traffic the line is carrying.
