asked the Minister of Works how many appeals he has received against the refusal of local authorities to sanction amounts over the statutory sums for repairs; and what has been the result of such appeals.

Sixty-two appeals against refusal by local authorities to grant licences have been received by the Ministry of Works. In 57 cases the refusal has been upheld; in four cases licences have been granted in agreement with the local authority; the remaining case is still under consideration.
